Kohli Resists Black Caps After Sumptuous Day 2

In bowler friendly conditions on day 2, India did well to see off a persistent kiwi attack after losing the toss.

Kyle Jamieson,  the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand, was the only bowler to be on it from ball one,  finishing the day with remarkable figures of 1/14 from 14 overs.

Despite New Zealand winning the toss, India looked the happier of the sides after the first hour of play, with Sharma and Gill looking generally unphased by the event.

That was until Tim Southee took a superb catch low to his right off the bowling of Kyle Jamieson to dismiss Sharma for 34.

Neil Wagner, with all the gusto we have become used to, struck with his third ball of the match, getting Shubman Gill caught behind.

Pujara was hit flush on helmet by Wagner (ouch!)

After lunch, despite assured resistance from Chesteshwar Pujara, Trent Boult had him trapped for 8.

With light playing havoc just as we are approaching the Summer equinox, Kohli and Rahane survived before play was ultimately suspended for bad light soon after 18:00pm.

India will resume on 146/3 on Sunday morning, with Kohli unbeaten on 44* and Rahane still there on 29*.
